READING GLASSES was founded in the summer of 2006 after Lisbeth Thorberg discovered that “her arms were not long enough!", it was high time for her to buy a pair of reading glasses. It was impossible to find a pair of reading glasses that was matching her clothes. The range was cheap, timid & sad, what we in public area call "gas station frames". The thought of matching her outfit by placing such a thing in her face did not exactly make her thrilled.

As the problem solver and cut & paste person Lisbeth is, from sewing a very wide manchester pants for artists in her youth & also developing fun and educational material for handicapped children. It was now impossible for her to let go of the idea of good reading glasses. For the past 25 years, she had worked as an agent in women's clothing and interior decoration. This was her home, safe and feel-good area. It was just to get started! Soon the first Thorberg collection was in stock in Sweden. Sales then started as an activity solely for her agencies. There has been a rapid change since that day. The frumpish, dull and dorky stamp on reading glasses is now blown away. Today, frames are such an important fashion attribute that Thorberg even produce some models in clear glass, without any magnification.
