OLLE
EKSELL
ART DIRECTOR AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Olle Eksell made his name through his involvement in the re-shaping
of Swedish graphic design during the 1950s.
Inspired by the American lifestyle and a period at Art School in Los
Angeles, he returned to Sweden to work as an illustrator.
He was the first to work with corporate identity, company logos and
graphic profiles. Though he is most known for Mazettis Cacao
Eye, he also wrote many articles and books on the relationship
between corporate economics and design.
Olle Eksell contributed two designs to the exhibition, Lena
Home and Margret Rose. Margret Rose (named after
Princess Margaret of England a 50s icon) in small scale was
made for design details in the corporate situation. The simple design
can easily be altered to create different impressions by varying the
colours. This print comes in a heavy 100% cotton printed on beige,
black white and nougat and a thinner cotton voile printed in black
only. |
